GETTING MARRIED IN JUNE...
The most common month of the year for modern marriages has roots
in Ancient Rome. Named in honor of Juno, the wife (and sister)
of Jupiter, she was mainly worshipped as the goddess of marriage,
fertility and childbirth. Juno, whose Greek counterpart is Hera,
was the patron goddess of Rome and considered as the protecting
and guardian spirit of females. She is portrayed as a majestic
woman wearing a diadem and veil. Her symbolic attributes are the
peacock (symbol of pride) since her wagon was pulled with peacocks,
and the pomegranate (symbol of marriage, immortality, and fertility).
